Found a very interesting movie on Sam’s blog. It’s a movie about the quants and the financial models used on Wall Street to model and in the end trade risk. Very very interesting.

There a particularly interesting part (somewhere between 28:00 and 31:00 mark) about a “quant’s manifesto”. People like simplicity and beauty in their models of world too much. Beauty and simplicity is very good in a working theory but if the theory doesn’t work when simple then forcing simplicity will not really work.
